The pinnacle of our red wine portfolio, our Benchmark Red Blend displays a combination of power, structure and site-specificity and is a tribute to our estate vineyard. The complex and full-bodied 2017 vintage is balanced and refined. Tones of blueberry liqueur, raspberry pie and black currant combine aromatically in the glass with hints of camphor and dark chocolate. Merlot and Petite Verdot effortlessly support the blend, simultaneously adding depth and silkiness to the layered profile. On the palate, lush tannins carry over a long, lingering finish.

2016 Winemaker's Series The Notch Red Blend

Our inaugural release of The Notch opens with a bouquet of intense fruit-driven aromas and spices. This Merlot-based blend features decadent notes of Luxardo cherries, crème de cassis, cola and plum on a plush profile that evolves into a velvety finish. A significant amount of Cabernet Sauvignon is used for support – only the ripest estate-grown Cabernet made its way into the final blend, adding dimension and structure while maintaining a luxurious mouthfeel.

2020 Winemaker Series Malbec

Our 2020 Winemaker’s Series Malbec opens with aromas of pine tree, cedarwood, raspberry compote and rose petal. Medium bodied, the palate displays plush tannins and expansive notes of purple plum, torn basil, raspberry syrup, and musk. French oak adds hints of cedarwood to the lingering spice on the finish.

2013 Benchmark Red Blend

The Benchmark Red Blend is the pinnacle of the William Hill Estate Winery portfolio. Benchmark Red Blend is crafted primarily from select micro-blocks from our 140-acre estate vineyard. The palate is characterized by intense, complex layers of dark fruit and cassis with hints of dark floral characters, while the finish offers subtle notes of toast. Incredibly well-structured, Benchmark has firm tannins and excellent acidity, blending for a rich, velvety texture. Cabernet Sauvignon forms the core of the blend, while Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc offer deep color and notes of blackberry, soft leather and pepper to the blend.

2015 Winemaker's Series Cabernet Franc

Our Winemaker's wines are crafted from select blocks on Napa Valley’s finest vineyards to display intense fruit flavors and layers of complexity. The deeply-flavored, silky 2015 Winemaker's Series Cabernet Franc opens with aromas of bright blackberry and juicy plum. On the palate, rich flavors of black cherry, blackberry and cola meld with light waves of toasted oak, tilled earth, licorice, nutmeg and black pepper. This medium-bodied wine has a savory mouthfeel and fine-grained tannins that create a clean, bright finish that lingers.

2017 Winemaker's Series Cabernet Franc

This small lot wine, just 11 barrels produced, was crafted from archetypical vineyards in Napa Valley. Along with fruit from our estate vineyard on the Silverado Bench, we augmented the blend with a generous amount of Cabernet Franc from the iconic Stagecoach Vineyard on Atlas Peak. A small percentage of Merlot was added from the mountainous Cypress Ranch Vineyard to round out the wine. Our Winemaker’s Series Cabernet Franc expresses more blue fruit and is very concentrated, offering notes of dark plum with a fragrant Herbes de Provence lift. On the palate, notes of black cherry and berry pie blend with subtle hints of burnt caramel, Chinese Five Spice and toffee before a long, silky finish.

2019 Winemaker's Series Petit Verdot

Our 2019 William Hill Winemaker’s Series Petit Verdot is a full-bodied wine with a huge presence and depth of dark fruit. Plush and velvety in the mouth, our Petit Verdot opens with aromas of blueberry with sweet cardamon and shaved baker’s chocolate. Layer after layer of juicy black plum and blackberry lead to chewy tannins with a hint of dark spice on the long finish. This wine will cellar nicely for the next 10 to 12 years and would also benefit from decanting before serving.

2020 Winemaker Series Petit Verdot

Our Winemaker’s Series Petit Verdot is a powerful wine that boasts classic varietal characteristics. The 2020 vintage opens with aromas of violet, blueberry and crushed gravel. Our 2016 Benchmark Red Blend is a 100% estate-grown Cabernet-based wine – a complex and full-bodied tribute to our home vineyard in the Napa Valley benchlands. The 2016 vintage is immersed in ripe notes of black currant, blueberry, cassis and blackberry. Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot support the blend effortlessly, simultaneously adding depth and silkiness to the wine’s layered profile. Hints of vanilla, graphite and cedar touch down on the palate and hover above an evenly graded bed of tannins. The wine was aged for 17 months in new French oak (82%).
